WSCC President & Workforce Development Team visit SHCC

On Thursday, February 25, Dr. Vicky Wood, President of Washington State Community College (WSCC) and her Workforce Development Team visited Swiss Hills Career Center’s Innovation Lab, Automotive Lab, and Welding Lab. 

WSCC and SOLSD have been working to offer college credit courses for our students that will allow them to save thousands of dollars when they go off to college. The curriculum and teacher credentialing will be finalized within the coming weeks. The goal is to be able to offer some options for the 2021-2022 school year. 

Potential options include Welding, Industrial Technology, Engineering, Chemical Operator/Computerized Numerical Control, Business (Financial Literacy), Health Information Management (including STNA), and Cosmetology programs. 

 

The WSCC team that visited SHCC included:

  • Debbie Gurtis, Early College Coordinator

  • Micah Covert, Tech Prep Coordinator/Business Instructor

  • Mark Romick, Career Connections Coordinator

  • Jennifer Bohach, Director of Curriculum

  • Linda O’Connor, Director of Business Operations
