Pfizer vaccinations available for students

The district is working with the Monroe County Health Department to provide the opportunity for students ages 16-18 to receive the Pfizer vaccination. Forms are available in your high school office and must be returned by Monday, April 19, 2021 in order to participate in this vaccination opportunity. Forms can be returned to your student’s high school office. The first dose will be given on April 30 and the second dose on May 21.

A little about the Pfizer vaccine:

  • This vaccine is recommended for people aged 16 and older.

  • Based on evidence from clinical trials, the Pfizer vaccine was 95% effective at preventing laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 illness in people without previous infection.

  • In clinical trials, reactogenicity symptoms (side effects that happen within 7 days of getting vaccinated) were common but were mostly mild to severe.

  • Side effects (such as fever, chills, tiredness, and headache) throughout the body were more common after the second dose of the vaccine.
