Monroe Central is dedicated to providing opportunities that will propel students into their future. One of these new options includes offering potential “internships” to students who are interested in going into education. If a student has completed all of his/her required credits, the student has the chance to partner up with a teacher at Woodsfield Elementary to get a taste of what teaching is like.

One student has taken this opportunity and was able to shadow Woodsfield’s music teacher, Mr. Williams. The student visited Woodsfield music classes daily for several months, helping Mr. Williams and working with students in a variety of ways. She was able to work with different grades and see what life as an elementary music teacher would be like. This was a great experience and solidified the fact that she wants to pursue education.

Any high school students who have completed their necessary requirements and are interested in this internship should contact Mr. Semple at joe.semple@omeresa.net. Experiences such as these provide real-world, hands-on experience in the education field, helping students learn what it’s like working with children.
