Making Mother’s Day extra special

Posted on: May 8, 2020
Mother's Day

With Mother’s Day coming up — this Sunday, May 10 — we wanted to give you all some ideas on how to make the day extra-special under these unusual circumstances. Our moms have had to pull double duty this year, not only keeping up with normal work and obligations, but helping to homeschool their students. We certainly appreciate all the work our mothers do for us daily, and we want to be sure they get a little extra loving this year.

Thinking of unique ways to celebrate while being stuck inside can be difficult, so we compiled a short list of manageable gifts or services you can do to honor your mom this Sunday:

    • Bake her a dessert: think about what she loves to eat after dinner (chocolate is always a good route!) and then turn to your helpful Google services. An easy way to find a child-friendly recipe is to type in what you’re looking for and then type easy either before or after. Example: easy coffee cake recipe.
    • Picnic in your back/front yard: change up the scenery! Grab a blanket, make some sandwiches, grab a bottle of soda, and head outside to enjoy the day with your family. Or — even better — order curbside pick-up from one of your mom’s favorite restaurants! Not only are you supporting local businesses, but now all you need to do is provide the blanket.
    • Mom’s Spa Day: warm up some towels, grab the nail polish, and get cozy in robes on the couch! Slap on a movie and you’re basically at the spa.
    • Make some art: it’s no secret our mommas love our artwork. Draw/paint her a picture, knit a scarf, make a chalk drawing — the opportunities are endless. Don’t forget to use her favorite colors!
    • Flowers: whether you’re just bringing them home from the store, picking violets outside, or planting flowers, this is a great way to be outside and spend some quality time with her.
    • Make her a card: and don’t forget to write something sweet in there! Let your mom know how much she means to you.

These are just a few ideas we had in celebrating our moms this year; feel free to let your creativity guide you in celebrating yours.
